Address Book is useful for storing the connection settings such as IP address, port number and password for remote hosts running CommTraffic services. If you have multiple sites where you monitor the traffic remotely, the program allows you to connect to them quickly and easily by selecting the corresponding entry from the Address Book. This functionality is not available in the Home version.
You can open the Address Book by clicking Service => Address Book in the main menu. To add an entry, click on the Add button. A dialog window will appear where you can enter the unique name for the entry, the IP address or hostname, port number, password, and an optional comment. When entering the IP address or hostname, you can select an alias that is already in the program's list of aliases by selecting the IP alias line from the drop-down menu. Click on the OK button and the entry will be listed in the Address Book window. You can sort the entries by the name, IP address or hostname, port number and comment by clicking on the header of the corresponding column. Dragging the column header to the desired place will change the sequence of columns. You can hide certain columns by right-clicking on the header of a column and unchecking the entries that you need to hide. You can also sort the entries by clicking on the header of the corresponding column. If you would like to edit an entry, select it and click on the Modify button, or double-click on the line that you would like to edit. To delete an entry, select it and click on the Delete button. The Address book has a menu for managing the entries: File Close closes the Address Book window. Action Add - launches a dialog window for adding an entry. Modify - allows you to modify the selected entry. Duplicate - duplicates the selected entry. Rename - allows you to rename the selected entry. Delete - deletes the selected entry. Undelete - restores the previously deleted entry. Create Alias opens the Alias Editor for adding alias and comment to the selected IP address or port number. Copy - copies the selected line, its part, or all entries to the clipboard. Open - allows you to open an address book file from the disk. You can also drop a CommTraffic address book file (.ctabk) into the Address Book window to open it. Save - saves the listed address book entries to the disk in CommTraffic format (.ctabk), as well as in HTML, XML, RTF, XLS and text file formats. Print opens the printing dialog window. Options opens a dialog window where you can change the appearance of the Address Book page. Right-clicking on the Address Book window brings up the menu that duplicates the Action menu. Address Book data is used for connecting to CommTraffic Services on the remote hosts using the Service menu. When the Address Book is called from one of the Service menu dialog windows (Connect, Set New Port, Set New Passphrase), the relevant data from the selected Address Book entry is used in the corresponding fields of each of the dialog windows. |
