Network Configuration Wizard

You need to configure the networking options in CommTraffic before using the program.

The Network Configuration Wizard will help you configure the necessary options with just a few mouse clicks. Click on the Settings node of the View Tree and then on the Wizard button in the Network => Wizard page. Please note that the Network page is not available if the connection between CommTraffic Console and CommTraffic Service is not established. The Network Configuration Wizard is a sophisticated tool that allows you to configure a number of network-related options and a quick and easy way to configure the program to start monitoring your Internet traffic. However, in many cases, your network setup or specific monitoring tasks will require a more advanced configuration. Please read the Setting Options chapter for more information about adjusting CommTraffic for your particular network configuration and needs.

The type and the sequence of configuration pages is determined by the algorithm that takes into account the options that you select as you walk through the Wizard. Click F1 on any Wizard page to see the detailed description of the page and its configuration options.

If you have a simple network setup (one Internet connection via Dial-up or LAN), or if you are not an advanced network user, click on the Next button on the Welcome screen and select the Simple radio button.

If you have more than one network adapter that you'd like to monitor, if you are an advanced network user or a network administrator, or if you are installing CommTraffic on a gateway computer, you will need to select the Advanced option.

Please note that running the Network Configuration Wizard will reset all previous adapter configuration settings.

CommTraffic allows you to monitor several network adapters simultaneously. The use of this option is recommended only by experienced network administrators and advanced computer users. Please see the Advanced Network Features
chapter of the manual regarding detailed information on monitoring multiple network adapters.
