The appearance of the program windows may be adjusted by right-clicking on them and selecting the Options menu item. Clicking on the Options menu item will bring up a settings window.
The Options window is different for the Reports pages (Local hosts, Remote hosts, Protocols, Local ports and Remote ports), and for the rest of the program pages. The Options dialog for Expenses, Holidays, Tariffs, and Alarms only has the Appearance tab and does not have the Tree lines checkbox, and it does not have the Data tab. Appearance Auto sized column this drop down list allows you to select a column that will be automatically resized when the program window is resized. Alternate row colors this option allows you to enable the coloring of data rows for easier viewing. Default colors/Custom colors if coloring is enabled, select one of the radio buttons to choose between default and custom color schemes. Color 1 / Color 2 these buttons allow you to choose the color set for the data rows background. Horizontal grid lines check this box to apply horizontal grid lines to the corresponding data window. Vertical grid lines check this box to apply vertical grid lines to the corresponding data window. Tree lines if this box is checked, the program draws virtual tree lines when the data nodes are expanded. This checkbox is available in the Pro version only. Hot track check this box if you would like the program to underline the entire row of data when the mouse is moved over it. Data Detailed view turning this option off makes the program display only the root nodes for the particular report, greatly decreasing the time required to generate it. If you use CommTraffic to monitor a network with many hosts, we recommend keeping this option turned off. Turn it on only when you really need it. Please read the Configuring CommTraffic for High Traffic Volume Networks chapter for instructions on adjusting the logging and reporting behavior of the program. Move active items to the top moves the traffic statistics items that have just been created/updated to the top of the list. When this option is selected, the headings of the columns become inactive, disabling sorting. Limit the number of rows displayed - limits the number of lines that are displayed in the data window. Show aliases check this box if you would like to display aliases for IP addresses, MAC addresses, and port numbers that are stored in the program. Show aliases only replaces the original value with its alias. Show aliases as well as numeric values displays the alias and the original value. Display statistics by IP addresses/MAC addresses/IP and MAC addresses combinations allows you to define the policy for aggregating traffic for a unique local host that may otherwise appear as multiple hosts. If you have DHCP enabled in your network, each computer with a unique MAC address is assigned a different IP address for every session. For this case, you should group the traffic by MAC addresses, instructing the program to display the traffic for each host in just one report line. In some cases, you may encounter a different MAC address for each host. For example, if you replaced a network adapter and would like to combine the traffic of the old and the new NICs in one report, you should group the statistics by IP addresses. If you select the IP and MAC addresses combinations item, the program will combine the traffic only for the hosts where IP addresses and MAC addresses match. Non-matching entries will be displayed in separate report lines. |
