Q. I still want to use older product versions under Windows 7. I'll just launch them in Windows Vista compatibility mode and/or elevated privileges and I'll be fine, right?
A. Unfortunately no, especially if you plan to run CommView, CommView for WiFi, CommView Remote Agent, CommTraffic, or NetResident. DO NOT try to install and run these products under Windows 7 until and unless you have the version that is explicitly marked as compatible with Windows 7. Aside from intermittent BSODs (Blue Screen of Death), you will experience all kinds of other problems, such as broken functionality, inability to capture packets, etc. You may try to install and run SmartWhois, CountryWhois, DigiSecret, and Essential NetTools. If you do, install and run them with elevated rights. They may or may not work, no guarantees. Better yet, use compatible versions.
